Changing your lifestyle for a better you. What are your new years resolutions? What are you going to try to "fix" about yourself this new year. I have many problems on my "to do" list, all evolving around me and my habits. For a year or so I have awoken with very severe lower back pain, that is usually relieved awhile after my first bowel movement. Upon doing research on this subject I have found many explanations to my pain from anal fusions to damaged discs. Nothing though, suggesting what I have suspected as the cause. I am a night time eater, a night owl actually. I do not eat breakfast, and my first meal is often supper. After supper I snack and eat sometimes until the wee hours of the morning. I sleep long and awake in pain. I also smoke, drink more alcohol then I should, and I am a little overweight. I have very low energy and am very irritable. This unhealthy lifestyle is on my new year's resolution list to fix. The first steps I will take to achieve this is trying to go to bed earlier, this will be difficult for me because I work nights. Second I will try to cut back on my morning coffee intake and try to eat a healthy breakfast, I believe drinking to much coffee is ruining my appetite. Hopefully, this will increase my energy levels and enable me to get off my fat butt and do something, like clean my neglected house. I have already cut back on the drinking, but my smoking will be the most difficult, I know. I have tried to quit several times, so I will save that for last. I do believe that changing when I eat and when I sleep will greatly increase my energy and help me loose weight, also, my mood, making me less irritable. I think this will stop night time overeating, thereby preventing my morning back pain. I am going to begin taking some vitamins too. Overall, I think this will be the best first step in changing my lifestyle. |

Your struggles are those of many people, Lina. One thing that I know is that we depleat our body fuel supply as we sleep. When you eat breakfast shortly after you get up, you put your matabilsim working properly and turn those calories into energy, instead of fat. Good luck with your resolutions. Keep us informed.
